The characters are barely there, you can see them but I have no idea what any of them are actually like. It is easy enough to follow but not substantial on its own. The story consists of a bit of setup, two fights, and an end reveal. This is clearly meant to be a first episode in a series or the intro to a game. He has hardly any credits so I can’t really tell you whether this is his normal level of work or an outlier. This means that Nagamura is probably the actual director. Satou is listed on MAL as being a game director at the same studio here the game was originally made, so I am assuming he directed the VN and is merely listed here as a director out of courtesy. The OAV is listed as having two directors: Yoshiteru Satou and Shinji Nagamura. Mars of Destruction is based on a VN of the same name that was released on the PS2.
